So! The Sector 7 Plate. How does that end up sitting with him?

SO because I can, and nobody can stop me, I kinda decided that Remake fills in some really good gaps and fleshes stuff out, so I take little pieces of that while still keeping the OG timeline (which this Reno is from). So it's kind of a combo of things—more or less what you see in Remake, with him being visibly uncomfortable before and after. He's done some messed up shit, but nothing on that scale before, and it's gonna eat at him for, like, probably forever! Even post-ACC, it's not something he ever wants to talk about or relive (which is going to be super fun with his Remake castmates lmao), which is his preferred coping method: leave it buried.

The thing is too, though, that I'm taking the characterization bits from Remake but not the changed events, so the plate job was all him (I always kinda thought Rude was piloting Reno's getaway chopper in the OG anyway, so in this case he just never got shot down). That actually makes it less impactful for him, because he could give a damn about other people; almost losing his partner in the Remake is what really takes it from "haha this is messed up" to traumatic. At that point they were fighting a life or death fight, which Reno is staunchly against (anyone who lays down their life for their job is an idiot), and he didn't really have that part of it to contend with in the OG; he was basically just stalling for time/toying with the party when he fights them then. With or without Rude involved, that's something he has to swallow on his own time though. He already gets night terrors from shit that happened in Before Crisis, so what's one more thing!!

But also I kinda feel like he slightly was feeling like being in Midgar during Meteorfall was a little bit of payback for Sector 7 so... lmao. He did answer for it in the end. A little bit.

On the other side of the coin, one of my long-term headcanons has always been that, for a relatively short period of time between leaving his hometown and coming to Midgar, Reno strugglebussed in the Sector 7 slums and had some not great times before he made it into the Turks, so there's no love lost there. FUCK THAT PLACE.

lmao yeah, I mean I always loved Reno's big IDGAF energy during the plate moment in the OG ("that's all, folks!" gets me everytime) but Remake just makes it so much more nuanced and interesting and... less inexplicable lmao. Particularly since they went to great lengths to humanize Reno and Rude in every single other game since, so it just kinda makes sense.

BUT YEAH I THINK ABOUT THIS
