Why was he not given the throne to begin with and had to fight for it? In my readings, it seems like there is a line of succession?

What constitutes a right cause?
traumaticus: (I'm gonna run this nothing town)

i am so not going to go over the war of roses wiki for meme tag.........

Alas, he wasn't the only one. Lancasters also shared a strong claim on the throne.

One such as my father's. To challenge fate and to take down a false king.

I didn't think you'd have any interest in the affairs of monarchy.
conflictresolution: (18)

yes, yes you are

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-30 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
So Edward the Third was a prolific sire to many similar bloodlines? Did he have a harem then?

As long as one is challenging their fate, their cause is righteous.

I don't.

[He has interest in you, Richard. Don't make him explain that.]
traumaticus: (All these lines into your chest)

have mercy on me

You jest. It is not unusual for the King to have a lover outside of his marriage, but bastards will not be tolerated in the court. The matters of crown are much more complicated than just passing the power from father to son.

Then why these questions?

[he does not get it.]

silco not understanding the british monarchy at all

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-30 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Can the crown not pass from father to daughter? It does seem strangely complicated, but that seems like an aristocrat manner of playing at power.

Curiosity. This war seemed important to you, so I wanted to know more.
traumaticus: (Wait 'till the world is mine)

no one does, unfortunately. also slaps cw for that medieval misogyny

[personal profile] traumaticus 2024-09-30 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Nay. Women are not granted such right to power as man does.

I see. It is the war that painted my childhood. However, it is thanks to that the crown was finally returned to the rightful ruler.

That seems unfortunate. Women are just as capable, sometimes more so, than men. Is their blood different from that of a man's where you're from?

So it would seem. You mean your brother... or you?
traumaticus: (If you think I'm pretty)

[personal profile] traumaticus 2024-09-30 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Only a man can truly reflect the God's will and face. They say that God created woman out of man's ribs to be his companion and to serve him.

My brother is the King.

cw: misogyny

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-30 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Why is God such a misogynist? He doesn't sound like anyone worth following if half the population needs to be servants.

Do you want this crown and the seat of power that comes with it?
traumaticus: (My skin peels off like paint)

[personal profile] traumaticus 2024-09-30 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
You have a dangerous tongue. It might lead you into trouble one day.

Are you truly asking whether I would go as far as betray my family and York blood?

It is most enjoyable that you can't actually answer the question. Perhaps if you stepped out from under this unworthy God, you'd find more of freedom?

No. I am asking if you want the crown and the seat of power that comes with it. Your strange lines of succession mean nothing to me.
traumaticus: (Blood on marble wall)

[personal profile] traumaticus 2024-09-30 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
I can tell that you truly do not understand.

Not my God, crown nor the weight of the question, let alone the meaning behind my answer.

cw: anti-religion omg i'm so sorry for him

[personal profile] conflictresolution 2024-09-30 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Explain it to me so I can understand.

Your God is a misogynist holding people back from enjoying life by punishing them with the illusion there is something after death waiting for you when everyone, everywhere is corrupt.

That is because God is God, and we are mere humans. Full of sin and foolishness, rejected from the eternal paradise for their crimes. To repent and earn place back in the light humans must follow the divine plan and pray forgiveness while submitting to their fate.

I am not in the line for the throne. That would be the two princes my brother left behind. The sun is shining on Edward the Fifth.

If I was to wish for the crown and the seat of the power that comes with me it would mean I would be willing to cast away my mortal soul and turn my back on the God.

Gods are beings with a bit of power that flaunt about for their own egos. There is no such thing as eternal paradise; it is a lie that has been made up to chain you. Life and ambition is what you make of it. I will never ask any being claiming to be my better for forgiveness.

Or you discredit his bloodline's purity. You said kings have lovers outside of marriage, and I assume women may as well. Are those actually your brother's children, or a result of a dalliance outside of the king's bed?

Turn your back on God. He is using you.

[Hm.

There is only just so much familiarity that Richard can take before he feels something shatter. Because unbeknownst to Silco, this isn't the first time when someone had urged Richard to leave the God behind and break free of the chains holding him back. Just like he doesn't know that Richard has already accepted it, and made the plans to deceive even the mightiest power that there is. Slither in the paradise like a snake.

But it also reminds Richard that he indeed is here, not in England despite finally having his plans and schemes worked out. The support of people, loyalty from the nobles county, enemies defeated and paradise finally his. Only for him to be spirited away from the golden circle. A punishment.

He feels his chest burn and feeling so lonely again, mind and body yearning for the person who's words Silco is mimicking. Perhaps Joan is laughing somewhere.

Yeah no. He doesn't want to do this now. So, there'll be no reply from him.]
