Well, no... I didn't work anywhere with, like, upward mobility. Or for very long.

I was curious about your working experience when you didn't seem to want upward mobility when I hired you.

Yeah, well, any interview that tries to suck you in with upward mobility promises from the start is probably a scam.

Anyway, I worked in a supermarket in college, and then I did some private investigator type stuff for a while.

That's smarter than most I've encountered. Everyone starts at the bottom unless they are born somewhere to close to the top.

What sort of private investigating did you do and how did you enjoy it?

Definitely not me... I'm a real start-at-the-bottom guy.

[And man, he really would rather not... but, Honesty,] We were mostly the finding-missing-persons kind, and it was awful every day.

Hmm, I've known many with no ambition. I suggest you find something that you want in your life otherwise you may regret the time you weren't aspiring to be something or someone.

What's your definition of 'normal' wrapped in this question? Is anyone truly normal, or does toiling away with nothing to look forward to how anyone wants to spend their life?

I look forward to plenty of things. What am I supposed to look forward to? Fifty years of the grind before I get my cocktail on the beach somewhere? Is that any better?

Do you want the grind? Or do you imagine something more, something that inspires you?

Can I be inspired by having a house and a dog, or is that too ambition-less for a guy like you?

I don't define what gets you out of that single bed of yours in the morning, and if it is a house and a dog, so be it. Once you have it, you'll simply have to move the post to somewhere else.

When you lose the will for it, are content with your life or you die.
