OOOH yes, this sounds like fabulous handwaved CR! This is obviously Claude's Whole Thing here, so he'd be absolutely thrilled to have someone to infodump on too tbh -- he's been studying the local flora full-time for quite some time now! He'd be happy to get all of Spock's expertise and might be able to share some new findings of his own too. :^)

Though also... many not so beneficial properties too........ he'll try not to let it come across that he also makes poisons but it's easy enough to glean LOL
