I was born a vaguely baby-shaped lump of goo. But my parents had been expecting a boy, so they encouraged me to look like a regular human boy growing up. And I just kept doing that for a really long time.
It wasn't until after I went through some pretty bad personal stuff that I realized that the face I was wearing not only didn't fit me anymore, it maybe had never really fit me in the first place. Luckily my team was fine with it when I started using my 'natural' face at home, even if I still had to use the old one when I go out in public.
I don't mind if people still refer to me as a guy, since I use masculine forms a lot. But that's not the whole truth of who I am.
