I won't make a decision until I've tried them out. Perhaps they've discovered alternative means of comfort that we haven't considered due to our lack of need for an alternative.
[ Pondering the possibilities leaves Hermes blissfully unaware of Hythlodaeus' thoughts. It isn't something he's put much thought into before as he's never much cared for it, but there could be more to learn about these new people based on their differences. It's very important to him that he keep an open mind.
He doesn't remember Hythlodaeus doing so, but that moment so long ago was one of many of its kind. Hermes had reflected on his own doubts and parsed out the oddities before finding the bravery to voice his concerns, but even those who regarded him highly had dismissed them out of hand. He wasn't sure this place would be different (he'd been charged with a crime after all) but he didn't want to inflict the same duress on strangers.
As such, he's polite as possible to the vendor despite the rather awkward situation of getting some food he's not entirely comfortable with. The lack of charge is promising, but Hermes isn't sure how to bring up the subject without offending their benefactor. Fortunately he doesn't have to.
